Hamor Hollow Policies

For your safety and the safety of your new pet, no hedgehog will leave Hamor Hollow unless it is in a secure carrier. The carrier must either latch shut or zip completely shut (as in a cat carrier or small animal carrier). Velcro, snaps, and buttons are not acceptable as secure. If you do not have a carrier or do not purchase one on your own, let us know in advance so we can have a carrier available for you to purchase.

Prices vary by sex and color and are listed on the front page of our website.. The price includes 2 weeks supply of our food mix. Additional food is available at the price of $10 for 2.5 pounds.

Once the babies reach 2 to 3 weeks of age, we require a $50 non-refundable deposit to reserve your hedgehog. We will e-mail you to let you know when your deposit is due. Your deposit will hold your baby to weaning age and up to 10 weeks of age. If you are unable to pick up your baby by 10 weeks of age, Hamor Hollow is willing to hold your hedgehog as long as you are paid in full and arrangements are made for a pick-up date.

Once payments are received, they are non-refundable. We will email you to let you know when your deposit is received. Please only reserve a hedgehog if you are sure that it is the right choice for you. We encourage you to visit Hamor Hollow to meet our herd to help you decide if a hedgehog is the right pet for you.

We encourage you to visit Hamor Hollow to meet, hold, and learn about our hedgehogs. We hope that this will assist you in deciding if a hedgehog is the right pet for you. Since we are a small breeder and we operate out of our house, we ask that you make an appointment at least 48 hours in advance. We are usually available weekday afternoons and evenings and most weekends.

If you have a hedgehog reserved, we encourage visits after 3 weeks of age. This may vary by mother, as some litters are more fragile then others. We will do our best to provide online or email pictures of the mother with her litter.

Hedgehogs as Gifts

It is our policy that the primary caregiver (and a parent if for a child) visit Hamor Hollow either before the hedgehog is ready or when it is time to pick up the hedgehog. We don’t advocate giving a live animal as a surprise gift so we believe this requirement is in the best interest of both the recipient and the hedgehog. While you are here, you will receive a lesson on proper care and handling. We believe that children can make great hedgehog owners, but parental involvement is essential to be sure the animal’s needs are being properly met. A new pet is a huge financial and emotional commitment, and we want to be sure that a hedgehog is the right choice for you.

Hamor Hollow accepts PayPal, cash, money orders, or cashier’s check. We do not accept personal checks under any circumstance. Payment in full is expected before any hedgehog leaves Hamor Hollow.

We at Hamor Hollow take pet ownership seriously and encourage you to think before you decide to purchase a hedgehog. We do not offer refunds. If you are not sure if a hedgehog is a suitable pet for you and your family, please contact us. We offer a visitations which gives you the chance to handle hedgehogs, and learn first-hand about hedgehog care including bathing and nail trimming, housing, and feeding.

Should the you find within 2 weeks of the purchase date that the individual hedgehog is not acceptable for any reason, we will exchange it for a comparable animal as soon as one is available. If at any time you are no longer able to care for your hedgehog, for whatever reason, we will accept the animal back and will care for it or find it another suitable home. We do not offer any financial compensation for this service.

Andover Animal Hospital

Andover Animal Hospital

Hamor Hollow guarantees that all our hedgehogs, to the best of our knowledge, are free from any health problems. All baby hedgehogs are guaranteed to be free from congenital problems until age 6 months. If a hedgehog dies before the age of 6 months, we will replace the animal at no charge if given a necropsy report from a licensed veterinarian stating the nature of the problem was due to heredity or present at birth.

Hedgehogs over the age of 6 months do not carry a long-term health guarantee. They will be checked by a veterinarian prior to leaving our premises and will be guaranteed to be free of any communicable diseases at that time. These guarantees do not include accident, negligence or any treatable or communicable illness.

Since a hedgehog will not develop its true color until five months of age (after quilling when the hedgie loses it’s baby quills and new quills fill in), we cannot guarantee the color of any hedgehog. We can, however, try to get you a certain color. We hope to have a variety of standards and colors.
